Information Security Specialist

SUMMARY:

The Information Security Specialist position will participate in threat hunting activities; is a member of the Cyber Incident Response Team; and will lead or participate in projects to reduce Risk and achieve/maintain compliance with regulations and standards. Strong communication skils and critical thinking are a must. Another critical ability is to learn, and then use effectively and efficiently, processes and technologies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with Business and Information Technology associates
  • Monitoring security devices, network devices, network traffic and servers for Indicators of Compromise
  • Evaluating and responding to Information Security incidents and leading Incident Response as needed
  • Keeping current with the threat environment for Spartan Motors, Inc.
  • Author, edit, manage and enforce Information Security policies, standards, processes
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate with all levels of the business and with Audit and Information Technology associates
  • Assess and report weaknesses in applications, servers and endpoints and correct when directed
  • Assess and report any weakness or gaps in security devices or environment and correct when directed
  • Assist with achieving and maintaining compliance with regulations and standards (NHTSA, PCI-DSS, SOX, HIPAA/HITECH,ISO)
  • Lead or participate in meetings and develop and deliver presentations
  • Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in Information Security preferred or a Bachelor’s degree and relative experience
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience
  • Security+, CISSP or related certifications preferred
  • Proven Skills, Knowledge, and Ability of:
    • Vulnerability Assessment tools and techniques (Required)
    • Security Incident Event Management (Required)
    • Penetration Testing/Ethical Hacking (Preferred)
    • Understanding of applicable data privacy practices and laws
    • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits
    • Advanced level user on Microsoft Office applications
    • Capable of comprehensive listening (understanding the message(s) that is being communicated)
    • Commitment to excellent customer service
    • Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies
    • Adept at conducting research into issues and products
    • Strong and consistent attention to detail
    • Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
    • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task
    • Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
    • Creative and innovative team player

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in IT (Required)
Certification in Information Security (Preferred)
