March 2018 Chapter Meeting

March Chapter Meeting

Spring seems to be just around the corner… but while the mornings are still cold, warm up with some coffee and cybersecurity conversation at the Lansing ISSA chapter meeting this Thursday, March 15th! Our speaker for this meeting is one of our Lansing ISSA members, James McQuaid.

James McQuaid is the Senior Information Security Analyst for M.S.U. Federal Credit Union. He was formerly the project leader for Emerging Threats’ Snort Config Samples and Russian Business Network (RBN) IP List open source projects. He was interviewed by Brian Krebs (of KrebsOnSecurity fame) in 2007 for his work on RBN in the Washington Post. Read that story here.

James will be presenting a technical talk on using Suricata and Snort with the pfSense Firewall.

Please note the location change: this meeting will be held at the MSU Federal Credit Union Farm Lane Branch on Mount Hope Rd. We will be utilizing the Community Room right off of the parking lot, per previous meetings.

Reminders

If you need CPE forms, contact board@lansing.issa.org and list any chapter meetings you attended to receive recognition. If your name corresponds with our records, we’ll send a copy your way.

The Marketing Director and Education Director positions are still open for Lansing ISSA members who may be interested in taking a more active role with the organization.

We’re always looking for new speakers! If you’d like to present to a captive audience of information security professionals and students at one of our upcoming meetings on a topic in the field, reach out to board@lansing.issa.org to let us know.

The Lansing ISSA chapter appreciates the location sponsorship of MSUFCU!
