October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM)! What better way to grow your cyber knowledge than attending a Lansing ISSA meeting later this month? Join us on Thursday, October 20th at the MSU Federal Credit Union on the corner of Mt. Hope Road and Farm Lane for a presentation on SCADA systems by Chris Robb.
This month’s talk: SCADA, the Electric Grid, and Incident Response
What is SCADA? The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition is a type of industrial control system and a way for us to protect the electric grid that powers our daily lives. What is the impact of threats to the United States electric grid? This talk will discuss the importance of information sharing in monitoring, hunting, and responding to threats to the electric grid.
Speaker Bio: Chris Robb is a member of the Consumers Energy Cyber Security team. Chris monitors the control and corporate networks, systems and data. He hunts for potential compromises as part of their Cyber Incident Response team. His job is to respond to all cyber security events to eliminate and mitigate any potential threats while assisting with restoration of critical functions. Chris has worked in the cyber security field for over 20 years with Consumers Energy, the Department of Defense, and the Behavioral Health area responsible for securing networks, systems, and information while meeting all compliance guidelines.

The meeting doors will be opened at 7:30 AM for sign-in and networking, followed by our speaker’s presentation at 8:00 AM.
