Speaker Bio:
Mr.
Carney is the Chief Information Security Officer
(CISO) and Director of Project Management at
Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan. In
these roles, Mr. Carney oversees all aspects of
project portfolio management as well as
information security management for
mid-Michigan’s largest and nationally recognized
health care provider. He provides strategic
vision and project oversight for over 150
employees in support of almost 10,000 health
care professionals.
Mr.
Carney has over 17 years in the IT industry, is
always with a smile, and a highly motivated
leader with proven delivery. Beginning work with
two major power companies in Ohio and Whirlpool
as an independent electrical engineer, Mr.
Carney moved back to Michigan and worked for E'S
(an HP company) for 15 years and hundreds of
clients. His innovative leadership has lead to
client roles including CISO, Program Manager,
Project Manager, Technology Services Manager,
and Enterprise Architect.
Mr.
Carney is a certified information systems
security professional, a certified project
management professional, and holds a Bachelors
in Electrical Engineering and minor in Computer
Engineering from the University of Dayton.
For
over 20 years, Mr. Carney has been an active
volunteer with the American Red Cross and enjoys
volunteering his time in schools, church,
sporting events, community, Sparrow, and MSU.
