Preparing for the CISSP?  Lansing ISSA’s CISSP Study group is now forming, which will:

  • Examine main elements from each of the 10 CISSP domains

  • Review study guides and other helpful tools to help prepare for the exam.

  •  Test your knowledge using common CISSP prep questions

Topic:  ISO 27001: An Overview

Overview:  This talk will present ISO 27001, an international standard for Information Security Management. It will discuss how ISO 27001 fits into existing Information Security approaches and how it can benefit organizations by helping ensure that existing efforts are complete and appropriate.

Speaker Bio: Joe Werner has been for the last 10 years a professor in the Computer Information Technologies program at Lansing Community College. He is a long-time computer professional, starting his career too many years ago with the mainframe maker Burroughs at their Detroit World Headquarters. He also worked for Systems Research, Inc., in Okemos, which was bought by Burroughs. (Burroughs has more recently combined with Univac to form Unisys. Joe disclaims any responsibility.) He worked as a consultant to several organizations in the area. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Michigan State University, and is near completion of a Master of Science in Information Assurance from the University of Detroit Mercy. He holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) certifications, and has successfully completed ISO 27001 Lead Auditor training.
